Decades of practice. Lives still unfolding. We bring what we have learned, and the humility to keep learning. Less guru, more mirror.

Founder
Lindsay Olshan
LMFT · ATR · PAT
FADEN is the culmination of decades of work. For over 20 years, Lindsay has practiced as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, serving individuals, couples and families. Her work has focused on complex trauma, grief, PTSD, anger, depression, addiction and other experiences of disconnection. Over time, she began seeking ways to work beyond the limits she encountered in traditional therapeutic approaches.
That exploration is personal, too. In her own life, Lindsay has been affected by multigenerational trauma, carrying burdens that were not entirely her own. Through her own medicine work, she came to understand that being a practitioner did not place her outside the work. She, too, needed to learn to let go, and to meet the shadows of her psyche with the same openness as the light. These experiences deepened her commitment to creating carefully held spaces where people can explore their own inner wisdom.
She has sought guidance from teachers in psychotherapy, breathwork, somatics and psychedelic medicine, including Dr. Michael Mithoefer and Annie Mithoefer, RN, of MAPS; Mary Cosimano, MSW, and Dr. William Richards of Johns Hopkins University; and Dawn Davis, MA, of the University of Idaho and the Indigenous Program for STEM. Just as importantly, she continues to learn from the people who work with her and the women who attend FADEN gatherings. We become mirrors for one another. Knowledge and vulnerability can exist together, and experience does not mean knowing another person better than they know themselves.
Fluent in English and French, Lindsay also works in the language of metaphor. Art, symbols and the senses make room for what can be spoken and what must first be felt. She tends gently, feels deeply and remains curious about the connections between nature, humanity and our individual stories.
Her work extends beyond the therapy room. She founded Global ARTery, a nonprofit bringing art therapy and training to remote parts of the world and to children experiencing trauma and upheaval. She also maintains a private practice in San Francisco, offering ketamine assisted psychotherapy alongside more traditional forms of psychotherapy.
Lindsay continues to hone her practice through training and engagement with research in psychotherapy and psychedelics. Her studies include the California Institute of Integral Studies graduate certificate in psychedelic assisted therapy and MAPS training, alongside education in art therapy, ketamine assisted psychotherapy, breathwork, yoga and therapeutic touch.
FADEN gathers these threads into an embodied, shared practice. Her years as a therapist meet art, ritual, beauty and community, with integration carrying the work into daily life. Lindsay brings the steadiness of experience without standing above the work. Skilled, attuned and willing to be vulnerable, she meets women alongside them, supporting their own understanding rather than supplying the answers.
“There are moments when someone looks across the fire or into the eyes of a stranger and realizes the teacher is not me, or any facilitator, but the grief rising in her chest, the laughter breaking through after long silence, the myth that stirs her memory awake.”

Somatic Practitioner
Stacia Butterfield
Stacia completed her Somatic Practitioner program in 1999, going on in 2000 to work at Healing Visions, an early Ibogaine clinic in St. Kitts, BVI, under the leadership of Dr. Deborah Mash. She certified as a Holotropic Breathwork facilitator in 2005 and joined the Grof Transpersonal Training staff in 2006.
She worked closely with Stanislav Grof for over 13 years, bringing Holotropic Breathwork to large public groups and a variety of academic and professional settings, including California Institute of Integral Studies, Tel Aviv University, the MAPS Psychedelic Science 2013 and 2017 conferences, Sophia University, Kripalu and the Fetzer Institute.
Stacia’s longstanding interest in the wisdom of the body and deep trust in the intrinsic healing orientation of the psyche inform her work with others.
Rumor has it she even has her very own pair of ruby slippers.
Why we cherish her
Stacia holds the deepest waters with a steadiness that can only come from decades of lineage. We trust her completely, and every woman feels it the moment she enters the room. She has a gift for story and metaphor, weaving them powerfully into the work and giving language to what can be difficult to name. She understands the nonordinary space as a true navigator, attentive to its currents and always appropriately adorned for the journey.

Acupuncturist & Herbalist
Alli Darling, MS, LAc
As a private practitioner of Acupuncture and Asian Medicine in Oakland, California, Alli primarily works with complicated cases that call for a deep and diverse toolbox. After twenty years of invested study in Western herbology, she broadened her practice to incorporate Eastern herbal prescriptions.
Alli’s practice works as a bridge between conventional medicine and ancient forms of earth based medicine. Her extensive training in functional and integrative medicine allows her to weave together modern lab analysis and classical Chinese medicine.
Practical applications of Five Element theory, wood, fire, earth, metal and water, inform Alli’s approach to chronic emotional and physical pain. This tradition offers an archetypal understanding of the body as a microcosm of nature’s macrocosm.
The rhythms of birth, death, regeneration and renewal are central to her work. Through the image of water becoming still after a torrent, Alli expresses her intention to support a renewed relationship with the body and its changing states.
Why we cherish her
Alli has a rare gift for bringing laughter and lightness to the deepest work, alongside the wisdom of the body held in the ancient methods of Chinese medicine and herbalism. And she looks great in a hat.

Bodyworker & Ceremonialist
Sophia Bautista Lorenzo
Born and raised in the vibrant landscapes of Mexico, Sophia, affectionately known as Sofie, is a bodyworker with over two decades of dedicated exploration into the connections between the body, energy and the subtleties of trauma. Her work resides at the intersection of somatics and the mysteries of nonordinary states of consciousness.
Deeply influenced by her cultural heritage and ancestral wisdom, Sofie explores how experiences of joy, grief and trauma may be felt and carried in the body, sometimes before they can be put into words. Through years of study and practice, she has cultivated an attentive sensitivity to how emotions, patterns and energies are experienced in physical form. Her practice makes room for exploration, release and integration, without prescribing what another person’s experience should be.
Her work sits alongside breathwork, plant medicine and somatic inquiry, supporting people as they explore heightened awareness and their inner experience. With a deeply intuitive style, she seeks to offer a nurturing space for reconnecting with embodied wisdom. Her giggle, infectious smile and genuine warmth are equally part of the presence she brings.
Why we cherish her
There is something magic in Sofie’s smile and hands. She knows how to enter a space and meet what is there, with an intuitive touch that invites softening and makes room for the heart. An appointed guardian of the forest, she keeps us connected to the land through her ancestry and decades of devotion. And her homemade tamales and mole are out of this world, another way she tends to us.
Photographer & Director
Jenna Jones
Jenna is a bicoastal photographer and director whose work is rooted in an enduring belief that life is worth documenting, not only its milestones, but the quieter, less composed moments that often tell us more.
Known for intimate portraiture and a candid, documentary approach, Jenna has an unusual ability to be present without becoming part of the moment she is photographing. She works with sensitivity and restraint, allowing people to remain inside their own experience rather than asking them to perform for the camera. This quality is particularly important at FADEN, where privacy, trust, and emotional safety are paramount.
Jenna approaches photography as a form of witnessing, attentive, respectful, and deeply human. Her images preserve what might otherwise disappear: the gestures, expressions, relationships, and small moments of beauty that become part of the memory of a life. At FADEN, she brings that same care to documenting our time together, always with respect for each woman’s boundaries and experience.
The photographs throughout this website are Jenna’s work, except where otherwise credited. Her eye for intimacy, beauty and the unexpected gives FADEN’s shared story its visual life.
Why we cherish her
Jenna is humble beyond words. She moves from the expertise of her lens to sitting in the circle and sharing her deepest vulnerability, with the rare gift of making women feel seen in both spaces. A devoted gardener, she knows something about tending, to a garden and to the women beside her. And she has a penchant for skincare, which we appreciate, too.

Integrative & Functional Nutritionist, Chef
Melissa Gisler Modanlou
Melissa has always lived life around the table. Raised in an Italian family, food was connection, tradition and joy, until gut issues in her twenties led her to reconsider what healthy meant for her own body and sparked a deeper inquiry into how food works on an individual level.
After moving to San Francisco, she immersed herself in the farm to table world, cooking for friends, launching a catering business, opening her Italian wine bar, Ottimista, and eventually becoming an Advanced Sommelier and founding her natural wine company, Rock Juice.
Alongside building businesses, traveling and raising two children, she continued studying nutrition, herbalism and the science behind it. This led her to the Integrative & Functional Nutrition Academy, where she became a board certified Functional Nutritionist, integrating food, science and tradition.
Today, Melissa works with women through a personalized, sustainable approach to nutrition, exploring underlying concerns and longer term wellbeing. Her approach avoids extremes and allows space for pleasure, including wine. Her philosophy is simple: food is meant to nourish, connect and bring people together. Her work focuses on helping others build a lasting, easeful relationship with it.
At FADEN, Melissa understands how food participates in the larger architecture of experience. She translates nourishment into something both functional and felt, creating meals with care for the moments after deep work and the integration that follows. Her presence at the table is an extension of the work itself.
Why we cherish her
Melissa brings a deep understanding of food as medicine to our table. She makes everything by hand and never skimps, on ingredients, care or generosity. She invites us to slow down, savor and receive, weaving her knowledge of nourishment into the work we are doing. With her, food is never an afterthought. It is part of how we are tended.

Experience Architect, Chef
Shawndra McCrorey
Shawndra is a key creative and strategic partner at Les Lumières, with experience working alongside companies such as A16 and Restoration Hardware. Her work focuses on concept development and building teams with the tools needed for operational success. She partners with businesses to architect dynamic experiences around food, wine and hospitality that engage people and connect them to the vision of a place.
At FADEN, Shawndra understands the depth of the work and the care it asks of us. She knows that nourishment is not separate from that experience: thoughtfully chosen ingredients and nutrients, a warming meal and something beautiful at the table are part of how we care for the women doing it. She brings an attentive understanding of what might feel nourishing before a practice, after deep inner exploration and in the quieter moments between. Her food holds both intention and pleasure, with a generosity that makes room to settle, savor and be in good company.
Why we cherish her
Shawndra moves through the space with ease and mastery, attuned to the subtleties of the work and what each moment asks of her. She knows how to truly nourish us, with care that reaches beyond the table. Her heart is so generous, and we feel it in all the quiet ways she tends to us.
